Come and enjoy an activity on Dartmoor with the Rangers as part of the Ranger Ralph Club!
The Ranger Ralph Club is open to all children between the ages of 5-12 years and is ideal for the young nature enthusiast in your family.
Ranger Ralph meets on a regular basis and each activity is safely led by a Dartmoor National Park Ranger. The club runs up to twelve outdoor events per year. These are all free to attend once you are a member.
How to join the Ranger Ralph club
If you live locally, or are coming to Dartmoor when an event is on, why not book and join in. Remember to bring your membership card!
Booking is essential for these activities as numbers are limited. These events are for Ranger Ralph Club members only.

Worm Charming and Wormeries
An ancient, noble and mysterious art. Why are worms so important?
Earthworms are vital for keeping our soil nice and healthy. They drag dead leaves and plants underground, munch on them, and then recycle their nutrients back into the soil through their poo! Come and make a wormery to take home.

Dartmoor History Hunters Family Fun Day invites Ranger Ralph Club Members.

Join us at the Royal Albert Memorial Museum for a free family fun day with our Dartmoor History Hunters travelling through time to uncover the secrets of Dartmoor. There will be crafts, activities and things to make and take home bringing to life the Brilliant Bronze Age, the Magnificent Middleages and Vibrant Victorians. Have a go at being an archaeologist uncovering treasures in our excavation trays, shape a clay pot, spin some wool and much more
Make a mini clay Beaker to take home (like the Bronze Age Beaker people)
Be a Master Builder and help make a miniature Bronze Age round house
Be a History Hunter and sift through the sands of time to uncover ancient artefacts with a Dartmoor Archaeologist
Help complete our 10,000 year Time Line by adding your pictures and drawings
Play some familiar and not so familiar Medieval Games
Have a go at wool spinning
Take a closer look at some of the artefacts found on Dartmoor with the museum curator
Take a selfie with our Victorian selfie camera
All these activities will suit children 5-11 years old and will help them discover Dartmoor's amazing heritage in a fun way

Meldon Wildlife Festival invites Ranger Ralph Members to join the day.

Join the National Park and partners for a wild day out celebrating Dartmoor's unique and beautiful wildlife. A free fun-filled, event for all the family!
There will be lots of wildlife activities to help you get closer to nature and nature crafts to take home. More details to follow but here is a quick taster of some of the things planned,

Getting there
From Okehampton: Follow the B3260 uphill and look for Meldon Quarry sign. Turn left just before Betty Cottles. Follow road over A30, through the woods, under viaduct and look out for car park entrance to Meldon Old Quarry on right.
From Tavistock & A30 Cornwall: Follow signs to Okehampton leaving the A30 via slip road. Turn left onto B3260 towards Okehampton until you see Betty Cottles on your left, take next road on right marked Meldon Quarry. Follow road over A30, through the woods, under viaduct and look out for car park entrance to Meldon Old Quarry on the right.
